At John Paterson School, all grade levels are serviced by a part-time certified computer resource teacher.  Using the computer, the computer specialist teaches lessons in all subject areas to students based upon the approved curricula and consultation with teachers.  This is done in the computer lab, our using one or more computers in every classroom.

The computer resource teacher is available to assist teachers and students in their classrooms. The computer resource teacher reviews software and advises school personnel in all areas of computer technology.

Through computer education, students are challenged in their application of both basic and higher level skills.  Practice in all subject areas is provided.  Critical thinking skills are developed to analyze and problem solve.  Students learn to be creative when they use the computer as a drawing and painting tool.  Students often type and publish their own ideas. Software which correlates to the integrated thematic units is identified and utilized.  Skills in research and communication skills are emphasized.  Computer education provides the technological background for middle school and future experiences.
