Title: Skellig

Author: David Almond

This book is not really a mystery and it’s not really a fantasy, but a blend of real life with unbelievable elements. Michael has a lot on his mind. His family has moved to a new house and his parents are very worried about his sickly baby sister. He discovers a mysterious figure in the dilapidated garage and nothing is ever the same. This book is a quick read with many short chapters, but it will linger with you for a long time.

Title:  Artemis Fowl

Author: Eoin Colfer

Review: This book is fantasy, though not the type you might expect. The first main character you meet, Artemis himself, is a 12 year old kid from a millionaire family. He’s not the nicest person around. He is trying to get some fairy gold, with help from his butler/personal valet, Butler, and Butler’s sister, Juliet. Holly Short is a leprechaun. But that’s only a job. In reality, she’s an elf. Intrigue begins when Artemis and Butler kidnap Holly while she is trying to replenish her magic. What happens next? Read the book and find out.

Review: This book is amazing. It’s about a girl, Rosemary, whose mother, Celandine, is an aelfe who gets killed by the lord’s henchmen. Rosemary changes her name to Rowen and meets a half-wolf named Tykeel on her way to meet her father, Robin Hood.
