Music BANDS 5^th grade Concert Band 6^th  grade Concert Band 7^th & 8^th grade Symphonic Band  Jazz Ensemble All band students are required to take one 1/2 hour lesson per week. The schedule is set up to rotate, therefore each student has a different time block each week. ORCHESTRA 5^th grade Orchestra 6^th, 7^th  & 8^th grade Orchestra All orchestra students are required to take one 1/2 hour lesson per week. CHOIR 5^th grade Chorus 6^th grade Chorus 7^th  grade Chorus 6^th, 7^th, 8^th Glee Club 6^th, 7^th, 8^th, Madrigals (20 member group) 8^th grade (only) Show Choir All of our student ensembles perform for many different occasions in school and throughout the community. There are 2 concerts per year (winter & spring) for all groups The Talent Show consisting of all grades (by audition - judged by members of  the music staff) Performance at the Kellogg-Eddy House during the holiday season The John Patterson Holiday Fair The Civic Center Carol Sing A musical presentation in conjunction with the 8^th grade class at the Iwo-Jima Memorial Show Choir does the most performances of any group with a presentation at all of the elementary schools, Martin Kellogg Middle School and a show at John Wallace during February and June. In addition to all of the performing groups, The John Wallace Middle School music curriculum consists of a General Music program designed to include all students. The 5^th and 6^th grade students study opera, both classic and rock, and composers.  Emphasis is placed on basic elements of music such as singing voice, steady beat, and composition of music.  The 7^th grade students learn to play both the guitar and the piano. 8^th grade students concentrate on the history of Rock and Roll.
