Parent Advisory Council
PAC News The efforts of your JWMS Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) for the new school year are well underway. For those who are new to our school, the PAC is the parents’ support group that works closely with the principal, students, and staff of our school to provide support and assistance to the entire school community. The PAC holds several fundraisers throughout the year which include the Fall wrapping paper/gift fundraiser, two book fairs, pizza/cookie dough sale, and a Spring Munson’s Chocolate/Butter Braid sale. The PAC also has published a cookbook with input from parents, staff and students. As a result of these fundraisers, we have been able to purchase school equipment, fulfill teachers’ wish lists, provide two fine cultural arts programs, fund partial scholarships for students with families in need for the Williamsburg trip, and a number of other supportive activities. The funds resulting from some of these fundraisers are put aside in an account to offset some of the projected expenses for participating individual students, i.e. for the Williamsburg trip, the school outing, and eighth grade expenses. The monthly PAC meeting is an outstanding way for parents to become involved with our school and stay informed. Mr. Milardo attends each meeting as does a member of the Board of Education. The two-way communication that takes place at the meetings is an invaluable tool to all those in attendance. The PAC meeting schedule is as follows. Please mark your calendar and try to attend often. All meetings take place at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria and last about 1 hour:
We hope to see you at our next PAC meeting . . . and bring a friend! |
